Balisong/Butterfly Knives

Post  Trîp/Reggie on Tue Jan 21, 2014 2:37 pm

Any of you into this sorta thing? If so, what sorta model/knife/dummy/comb/whatever do you use, how long have you been doing it, and what sort of tricks to you know? ^^

I'm currently awaiting the delivery of this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00GH8J48I/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3164UCNUJHCJX, which I intend to use to learn tricks with, seeing as actual balisongs and most training drones are pretty much illegal, to my knowledge, so I went with one that I felt was a bit more secure, legal-wise.

Why would you even make it illegal, everyone knows people are just gonna do tricks with it. My country may be retarded as hell, but at least Balisongs are not banned. TL;DR: Grow some bloody balls britfags :3

It's mainly the fact that it's a knife.
Which is a weapon.
Which I'm 90% sure is illegal, as is any one that can be sharpened into a blade.

I'd have bought a drone, but they're really hard to find on Amazon.co.uk

Same reason gravity and flick knives are banned. They're a concealed weapon. The blade is also longer than 3-inches on most of themwhich makes them illegal to carry on the street without a very good reason.

Exactly that. The police in England take a pretty firm stance when it comes to knife crime, as it's so prevalent normally, compared to guns and other forms of firearm.

Eh, you can conceal any knife on your arm with a bit of tape or something. Hell, a regular folding knife is more practical than a balisong. It's based on fear mongering imo and I don't think the decision to ban it was thought through well.

Anyhow, yeah I picked one up. It's a lot of fun, but the craftsmanship is pretty shoddy. Threads gone on all the screws (except the pivots), and one of the pins is loose as hell. Bleh. But yeah, it's damn fun. Love messing about with it.

Also dat feel when you re-enact Meet the Spy.

I live in a country where balisongs are legal. Every day I get stabbed approximately 5 times because of that. In fact I just returned from the hospital. #banbalisongs

not really (obviously)

I'm not defending it, but you don't see people with running around with knives taped to their hands thinking their fucking Wolverine from X-Men. Also the meet the spy trick is Jarate easy to do, hardly an achievement.
