VGA cable won't connect to GPU

Post  Carlotso25 on Sat Jan 25, 2014 12:27 am

So after coming back from a Lan, I've found my VGA cable from my monitor to PC now refuses to go into the slot by the GPU. My monitor just says there is no signal. I've currently got it plugged into the slot by the motherboard. It works, but I might be losing some potential processing power when playing games. I don't know.

I've tried reinstalling drivers for the GPU and even taking it out and re-screwing it in to check for any movements of it, but it seems to be fine. Still doesn't want to connect with the VGA, even though I'm sure the GPU is indeed working.

Any suggestions?

Did you do anything special with your hardware as of recent?

Your motherboard BIOS probably has a graphics setting for either integrated or dedicated graphics processing, you might want to make sure you have the dedicated GPU enabled and such.

Make sure the graphics card is properly plugged into the motherboard. Check external power source as well. Maybe you could also try a different slot on the graphics card, if there is one, to check if the port is the issue, but thats unlikely.

Also why would you even VGA? Is your GPU / display not compatible with anything else?
