Optimising my sens

Post  Carlotso25 on Thu Jan 30, 2014 5:10 am

So currently my Inches per 360 is 10.3. It's what I'm used to and it's good for me. However I'm currently using a DPI of 200 and an ingame sens of 7.95 (along with 0.022 m_yaw and windows multiplier of 1 ofc). I use raw input and all that jazz.

I realise this probably isn't ideal. Having too low a DPI isn't too good and that apparently having a sens higher than 3 can cause pixel skipping in TF2 (though not sure of this). Regardless, I'd like to optimise it possible. Basically make it so that my mouse movement feels the same as it does both inside and outside of game, but just with a higher DPI and lower sens.

Is it literally as simple a matter as using the sens calculator to figure out different values? Because I remember back when I used to have my DPI high, I found my regular windows sens to be way too high and so had to counter act by using the windows multiplier. Is there some setting I've missed or something? Or am I forced to sacrifice my windows sens if I want to up my DPI for TF2's sake?

Also if you don't have a really low sens like me (25in/360), about 800 DPI is the maximum you will ever need. Even at my sens the DPI i use (1150) is more than I could ever make use of.

You may want to look at:

Good Mouse/Sensitivity Guide
Some CS:S pro settings
Another good mouse guide

Just be aware that you don't need to move your mouse quickly in cs so sensitivity is crazy low.

Is 400 DPI okay with 25in/360? I have this old mouse from like the 1990s but I'm getting a Corsair Vengance gaming mouse for my birthday in a couple weeks so... still wondering if it is good for now?

Dude, you could get the Zowie FK or AM which is much better mouse for that price. Don't fall for the "gaming mouse" marketing shit.

IIRC you told me before that you have a 3200DPI mouse I think? In any way, just put your DPI to 3200 and in-game sens to 0.5 which gives you 10.2 inches/360. Your out-of-game sens can be solved with the windows modifier and like people said, rawinput overrides it. Yes, 3200DPI may be more than you can ever make use of, but then again you might as well, its not like there is harm in it. Its definitely better than using 200DPI and 7.95 game sens which definitely gives you pixel skipping.

Bit late there Almie :L
I'm on 13.6 inches/360 now at 600 dpi. Think I should still up it?

It's a little late now, my family already ordered it. Razz It's still a good mouse though.
